John Fred and his Playboy Band in 1967. Background information. His group, John Fred and the Playboys, was formed in 1956 when Fred was 15; their first charting single was March 1959's "Shirley". He appeared on Alan Freed's show, but when Dick Clark asked him to sing on American Bandstand, Fred had to turn him down because he had to play in a basketball game  . Sometimes You Just Can't Win" b/w "What Is Happiness" (from Permanently Stated).

Permanently Stated ‎(LP, Album). Paula Records, Paula Records. Really a stand out psych-pop album. The band might have been a classic one-hit-wonder with "Judy", but don't pass up this recording if you love obscure poppy psych that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Responder Notifique-me Helpful. 24 de janeiro de 2010. Great caleidoscopic bubblegummy pop-psych album.

11. Permanently Stated. 11 Songs, 33 Minutes. The Very Best of John Fred & His Playboy Band.

Permanently Stated is an interesting and successful period piece of pop psychedelia. The album seems to be a logical progression of the satire of "Judy in Disguise," the band's number one parody of the Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds. Though it doesn't totally shun the group's R&B base (. "Hey Hey Bunny" and especially "Little Dum Dum"), most of the album explores late-'60s psychedelia. We Played Games," the great opening cut, seems almost innocent in its lyrical and musical content.

Little Dum Dum John Fred & His Playboy Band. 10. Before the Change John Fred & His Playboy Band. 11. Permanently Stated John Fred & His Playboy Band. Total Playing Time 33:16. Permanently Stated was the follow-up record to John Fred and the Playboys' 1968 runaway success Judy In Disguise With Glasses. Hits include Hey, Hey Bunny and What Is Happiness, both uptempo, soul-infused songs that combine southern charm with rock 'n' roll attitude. 96 kHz, 24-bit PCM – Paula Records Studio Masters. This album contains high-resolution digital transfers of material originating from an analogue master source.

John Fred Gourrier was born in Baton Rouge, LA, on May, 8, 1941. Although he excelled in sports like basketball and baseball at Catholic High School, his first love, much to the constant chagrin of his parents, was R&B music, especially that which was broadcast from New Orleans just 60 miles down proverbial Highway 61. At the tender age of 16, he was already heading his own band (a collection of his classmates) and was trying his hand at composing. Permanently Stated is an interesting and successful period piece of pop psychedelia.
