Compilation album by. Various artists. Garage rock, acid rock, psychedelic rock, proto-punk. In Europe in 2006 Rhino released a remastered version of the album featuring the original 1972 tracklist on a single compact disc in a miniaturized replica of the original gatefold sleeve. However, unlike the original album the tracks were presented using their mono mixes. In 2012 the album was again remastered, this time directly from the same tapes as the original 1972 release, featuring mono and stereo mixes.

First-ever audio history chronicling the Ru-Jac label with rare singles and previously unissued ’60s Soul/R&B. The Baltimore label was founded in 1963 by local promoter Rufus Mitchell and investor partner Jack Bennett (their names forming the Ru-Jac name). The label primarily released regional Soul/R&B singles from 1963 until the mid 1970s, when Mitchell stepped away to focus on another business venture. Something Got a Hold on Me: The Ru-Jac Records Story, Vol. 1: 1963-1964. Beginning in 1963, a good half of the record is devoted to sophisticated soul that echoes what was being made in New York City in the early '60s - Tiny Tim (aka Mr. T, which means he's most assuredly not to be confused with the "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" singer) sounds like a hybrid of Chuck Jackson and Jackie Wilson
