Lô Borges is the debut solo album by Brazilian songwriter Lô Borges. While recording Clube da Esquina alongside Milton Nascimento and Beto Guedes, Lô Borges was pressured by Odeon Records to release a solo album. Borges, only nineteen years old at the time, wrote the album very quickly, sometimes writing a song in the morning and recording it that night. The album did not achieve much success at its release, although it gained cult status in the following decades.

Lô Borges (Born Salomão Borges Filho on January 10, 1952) is a Brazilian songwriter, singer and guitarist. He was one of the founders of Clube da Esquina, a group of musicians originating in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. He co-authored with Milton Nascimento the album Clube da Esquina in 1972, which was a milestone in Brazilian popular music. Among his most famous compositions are Paisagem da Janela, Para Lennon e McCartney, Clube da Esquina No. 2, Trem de Doido and O Trem Azul.

Cafi didn’t catch either boys’ name that day, but when he later showed the photo to Brazilian musicians Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges, the two knew they had their record cover for their 1972 double album, Clube Da Esquina. And for many years after the fact, people thought the photo was in fact Nascimento and Borges as young boys. For the next 40 years, the boys on the album cover were a mystery throughout Brazil, one requiring a manhunt of sorts to try and track the boys down. Paisagem Da Janela is clopping, country-tinged soft rock with a chiming guitar line, but Lô Borges’s refrain belies such lightness: When I would speak of those morbid things/When I would speak of those sordid men/When I would speak of this storm/You didn’t listen/You don’t want to believe/But that’s so.

Lô Borges is the debut solo album by Brazilian songwriter Lô Borges. After the release of this album, Borges would not release another album until 1979's A Via Lactea Track listing. All tracks written by Lô Borges unless otherwise noted.

Reminiscent of the Clube da Esquina album he made the same year with Brazilian superstar Milton Nascimento, Lô Borges' 1972 solo debut proves that his influence on Nascimento was quite strong. The recording is texturally lush and dreamy, at times urgent and bizarre, and filled with the fantastic and intricate guitar playing one would expect of Borges after hearing his dazzling work with Nascimento. His vocal arrangements are lavish, often similar to the vocal qualities of George Harrison's All Things Must Pass, and his instrumental arrangements are just plain confounding.

This is still being sold on the 4menwithbeards website as of today. Don't be scammed into buying an overpriced one here!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sadaron above the Gods
too bad it is an abomination of the original sound on the LP. Mr. Bongo has them up on their European website. Much higher quality
Can anyone share what is the sound quality of the latest reissue by Polysom?
I agree, well done reissue which sounds very good. I can't compare with the original pressings, but this Polysom reissue sounds much better than the 4 Men with Beards pressing.
Listened to it today and it sounds wonderful. A great mastering job, and quiet pressing too.
Silver Globol
Is the sound quality on this version any good? 4MWB aren't exactly known for quality vinyl pressings.
Impala Frozen
it is not a bad pressing, but compared to the Polysom reissue it sounds quite dull
it's not bad sounding for 4MWB... such a great record
I'm curious about this to really want this but haven't found any info on the sound quality of this pressing
Please sell this to me... someone... have never found it in Brazil, just the reissues
I'm sure if you go to one of the fairs in Rio/SP or talk to Cliffy or zico and Chico it'll pop up eventually. I'm interested in your reissue. Can you email me a picture of the cover? [email protected]
I assume the 4 Men With Beards-reissue is shit as always...?
