This CD includes all the tracks from MGP's second album, The World Of Genius Hans, and, as a bonus, those tracks (8 to 12) from the Moving album of 1980 which weren't included on Musea's 1st MGP reissue. Tracks 1 to 7 recorded at Studio des Dames, Paris, December 7th-15th 1971. Tracks 8 to 12 recorded at Johanna Studio in 1980. Matrix, Runout: DURECO 4101AR.
Moving Gelatine Plates' second album-released only a year after their surprisingly mature debut-displayed a better quality of recording and engineering to equally mature and accomplished instrumental jazz arrangements. Other than the debut's "London Cab," I like this album hands down over the debut. After their excellent Canterbury-fueled self-titled debut album, Moving Gelatine Plates re-entered the studios to record their sophomore effort The World Of Genius Hans. First thing that one is likely to notice is its bizarre cover. Seems like an allusion to something?

Parts of the album are reminiscent of the music recorded by groups from England's Canterbury scene (. Soft Machine), but the Moving Gelatine Plates' driving rhythms and catchy thematic shifts set the band apart from their English counterparts. Drummer Gerard Pons pulls the listener along at a frantic pace on tracks like "Gelatine" and "Last Song. With help from the growling distortion provided by guitarist Gerard Bertram, Pons keeps the album firmly grounded in rock.
