Throughout this album Terje's guitar sings like a woodwind instrument and his sound could be compared to Bill Frisell, Jeff Beck, Phil Manzenera, Steve Hillage and/or David Gilmour. Drummer John Christensen often plays in the restless and somewhat purposefully vague style of the African influenced Billy Higgins, but John's playing on here is often very subtle and in the background.

What can I say about this album other than it's simply amazing. Very beautiful, textural, and never looses focus. I highly recommend Terje Rypdal's ECM works (i. e. "Chaser," "Waves," and "Blue"). By the time Terje Rypdal recorded this album in 1979, all the stomp boxes, all the FX, (and that intriguing slow attack technique), were assembled and under control. The electric guitar had been taken into avant garde and progressive jazz by John McLKaughlin, Jeff Beck, Pat Metheny, Al Di Meola and John Abercrombie (to name some examples). Terje Rypdal had it all in one box, and the amazing sparse lead lines hanging in a wave of reverb bear witness to his mastery.
