Frightened Rabbit were a Scottish indie rock band from Selkirk, formed in 2003. Initially a solo project for vocalist and guitarist Scott Hutchison, the final line-up of the band consisted of Hutchison, Grant Hutchison (drums), Billy Kennedy (guitar, bass), Andy Monaghan (guitar, keyboards), and Simon Liddell (guitar). From 2004 the band were based in Glasgow.
Listen to Frightened Rabbit's excellent fourth album and let us know your thoughts. In last week's interview with the Guardian, anthemic Scottish folkers Frightened Rabbit talked about the disparity between their success in the US and their relative obscurity in the UK. In America, the Selkirk five-piece play to thousands of people and have appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallo. ut closer to home they're so under the radar that people at their own record company have never heard of them
Pedestrian Verse is indie rock band Frightened Rabbit’s fourth album. The album was the band’s first that was released through a major label, in this case Atlantic Records. The Scottish indie band put all they got into their fourth album, but does it pay off? By Adam Silverstein. Their hubbub may be broader and ambitious but it's still gritty, though it's Hutchison's charged real talk that makes this album so compelling. On 'Dead Now', via unexpectedly jivey guitar lines, he yells "There is something wrong with me" like Selkirk's own proudly unburdening Walter White.
While the first two Frightened Rabbit albums grabbed the attention of the listener with urgency and honesty, forgetting the notion of polish along the way, the third went for less lyrical heartstring pulling and more grandiosity. Polish was most definitely in, but Scott Hutchison's loveable habit of airing his laundry in public seemed to have been put on hold.
