She had previously lost a sister in a car accident in 1998. The album was generally well-received, with critics noting a pervasive sense of loss throughout the album. O'Connor released I Want What You Want on Kiam Records on November 8, 2011, which is her birthday. Guitar World called the album "bitingly frank and melodically gorgeous". In the past she has hired a lead guitarist for most of her songs but this time she did more of her own guitar playing In the fall of 2013, a song O'Connor co-wrote called "Running Blues" was premiered on the FX biker drama Sons of Anarchy.

This live album captures a great set of pure, unadulterated roots music from early in their career, which nonetheless still features some of the band’s best songs. Even a simple tune such as Baker’s Waltz is among the prettiest fiddle waltzes I’ve ever heard. The Mammals seriously need to make a comeback. 6. David Grisman – Dawg ’90, 1990 The idea of even choosing a single David Grisman album is absurd, as the guy has recorded dozens over the course of a career spanning more than 50 years-and he’s still performing today. The progenitor of so-called Dawg Music and one of the world’s greatest mandolin players, Grisman invented a style all his own, fusing traditional bluegrass, American jazz and Latin music in particular.
The Title Is Certainly Folky, But O'Connor Doesn't Always Stick To The "Girl With A Guitar" Formula That Might Push It Firmly Into That Genre

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Jennifer O’Connor is releasing her first album since leaving Matador Records back in 2009. On November 8th, O’Connor will digitally release I Want What You Want on her own Kiam Records. Though she left Matador unsure if she’d continue making music, she says her return to the studio ushered in feelings of perseverance, accepting, and starting over, which are major themes on I Want What You Want. O’Connor blends the negative feelings that can inspire someone to move on with her soothing vocals and strong guitar solos on her new track Already Gone
Jennifer O’Connor Shows. Sorry, we’ve got no upcoming shows for Jennifer O’Connor. About Jennifer O’Connor. Over The Mountai. s her 3rd CD, but it has the immediacy of a debut. The past year saw many personal upheavals which informed it more than she expected. It’s been so tumultuous, I think that inevitably crept into my songs, she says. I wouldn’t say that I always write from experience, but I did a lot of it on this record. For her most emotional songs yet, she self-produced and got rid of reverb and extraneous sounds, giving them an urgency that her other records didn’t always have.
