In Concert (Derek and the Dominos album). In Concert is a live double album, recorded by Derek and the Dominos in October 1970 at the Fillmore East and released January 1973. Six of the album's nine tracks were later included on the 1994 album Live at the Fillmore. The three songs not included are "Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad," "Let It Rain," & "Tell the Truth.
The Derek And The Dominos live recordings are from the Fillmore East in New York City on 23 and 24 October 1970 and capture the band in all their, at times, rampant glory and at others that laid back Southern soulfulness that Messrs Radle, Whitlock and Gordon brought to the band. Derek And The Dominos In Concert was originally released in 1973, nearly two and a half years after the band’s studio album originally had nine songs and running for an hour and half
Live at the Fillmore is not exactly an expanded version of In Concert; it is a different album culled from the same concerts that were used to compile the earlier album. Live at the Fillmore contains six of the nine recordings originally released on In Concert, and three of its five previously unreleased performances are different recordings of songs also featured on In Concert - "Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?," "Tell the Truth," and "Let It Rain
Live At The Fillmore sports six of the nine pieces originally included on In Concert. Two songs, "Key to the Highway" and "Crossroads," were previously released on Crossroads (Polydor, 1988). Three of the five previously unreleased songs are different recordings of same pieces appearing on In Concert ("Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?," "Tell the Truth," and "Let It Rain"). Derek and the Dominos played a total of four sets over October 23-24, 1970 and in light of the above re-releases, it now may be the time to release the whole shebang. It is certainly long overdue. The Ten Best Live Rock Recordings.

This live set here on two CDs was compiled from two performances at New York's Fillmore East on October 23, 1970(second show) and October 24, 1970(second show). Through the course of thirteen songs, Derek & The Dominos demonstrate further on how well they play live. Eric Clapton(as Derek) proves he can pull off a show with his amazing guitar work and vocalizing softly thanking the crowd after each song. Bobby Whitlock enthralls with his organ playing and chiming along vocally with Clapton. I hate to reveal my age, but I saw Derek and the Dominos at the Fillmore East, during the late show, when some or all of this was recorded. It was EVEN SOLD OUT, because only those who read magazines like Circus and Rolling Tone knew was Derek was. There was NO marketing.
