Johnny Dollar (March 8, 1933, Kilgore, Texas - April 13, 1986) was an American country and rockabilly musician. Dollar relocated to Dallas in the early 1950s, where he worked in trucking and in a lumber yard. In 1952 he recorded a single for D Records, but it didn't catch on, and Dollar then found work as a DJ in Louisiana and New Mexico. There he began fronting a group called the Texas Sons and performed on the Louisiana Hayride in the middle of the 1950s.

As for Johnny Adams Greatest Blues CD, its a great jumping in place and those newly-smitten wth Adams imfectious sound. One person found this helpful. With some of the best song writers in the business and songs ever to grace blues album: DANGER ZONE (Percy Mayfield) FORTUNE TELLER (Johnny Adams) GARBAGE MAN (Willie Hammond) IMITATION OF LOVE (Doc Pomus/Mac Rebennack) LAUGHIN' AND CLOWNIN' (Sam Cooke) MY BABY'S QUIT ME (Doc Pomus/Joe Kookoolis) MY HEART IS HANGIN' HEAVY (Percy Mayfield) NOT TRUSTWORTHY (A LYIN' WOMAN) (Percy. Mayfield) ROADBLOCK (. Welch) ROOM WITH A VIEW (Lowell Fulson/Billy Vera) SCARRED KNEES (Janis Tyrone) THIS TIME I'M GONE FOR GOOD (Oscar Lee Perry/Deadric Malone).
You can make jokes about the monetary names of Johnny Cash, Johnny Paycheck, Johnny Money, and all the rest, but Dollar is this Johnny's real name. Dollar made rock & roll before turning to a variety of country music styles, but his history as a rocker isn't in evidence on his 1968 album Johnny Dollar. Even the fuzz tone guitar on "Forever Is Over" and "Do-Die" has ample precedent in country music.
