SANVOISEN's 'Soul Seasons' came three years after their very good debut and brings a more power metal approach than its predecessor. The main elements that constitute the band's sound are still there: the very good, high-pitched, ala-Tate (albeit slightly ematic) vocals from Maranis and the powerful, clear, up-front guitars, the mid-tempo riffs borrowing heavily from Queensryche and Conception. All and all, another very good album from the German band that would appeal to friends of creative progressive/power metal, with a particular liking in Conception and 80's Queensryche.

Sanviosen modernized but still stuck in their ways - 85%. Crossover, December 15th, 2016. Sanvoisen were able to churn out two tasteful and melodic prog metal albums via Noise Records in the mid-90s. Their style, and especially vocalist, bring to mind bands such as Fates Warning and Queensrÿche. Despite its more robotic riffing, the opening track Spirits blasts into the traditional Sanvoisen sound that was established on their debut.
