Akiko Yano‘s 1977 studio album Iroha Ni Konpeitou is getting its first international vinyl release, this May via WEWANTSOUNDS. Recorded in Tokyo and New York, the album mixes Japanese pop and NYC funk, and includes a cover shot by photographer Bishin Jumonji. Its ten tracks include two Haruomi Hosono compositions: ‘Ai Ai Gasa’, which featured on his debut Hosono House, as well as ‘Hourou’.

Having previously issued Akiko Yano's 1976 debut "Japanese Girl" - an eccentric set of East-West pop fusions marked out by the artist's distinctive vocals - Wewantsounds has returned to raid her vaults once more. Iroha Ni Konpeitou" first appeared in 1977 and garnered great hype in Japan thanks to the success of its predecessor.
