Sounds of the '60s is a long-running Saturday morning programme on BBC Radio 2 that features recordings of popular music made in the 1960s. It was first broadcast on 12 February 1983 and introduced by Keith Fordyce, who had been the first presenter of the TV show Ready Steady Go! in 1963. From 1990 until February 2017 the presenter was Brian Matthew. In the mid ’80s the format changed and each week the programme was presented by a different artist from the Sixties.

Greatest hippie songs and videos from the '60s and '70s that convey the feelings and politics of the er. It seems that music has always been a basic part of human life. It is amazing to think that archaeologists have discovered instruments made of bone dating back to between 35,000 to 40,000 . Music is not only a part of humanity's ancient history, but can remind us of our own past experiences. Looking back at the music of any period in history offers us a sense of life as it was, and a peek into that slice of time. The music of the 1960s and 1970s offers a unique political outlook that was punctuated by the issues of the time. Greatest Hippie Songs of the 1960s and 1970s.
