Released May 14, 2013. Modern Vampires of the City Tracklist. 1. Obvious Bicycle Lyrics. The title of your album is a quote from the song One Blood by Junior Reid. But there’s always something kind of haunting about the phrase Modern Vampires Of The City. And at first there was something that seemed kind of funny about calling a Vampire Weekend album Modern Vampires Of The City, but then I do feel like there’s some deeper resonance there too. Modern Vampires of the City debuted at on the Billboard 200 for the week of June 1st, 2013. It sold 137,000 copies during its first week to land them that position on the chart. The record was later certified gold by the RIAA on November 6th, 2014. Modern Vampires of the City Q&A.

Vampire Weekend is an American rock band from New York City, formed in 2006 and currently signed to Columbia Records. The band was formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Ezra Koenig, t Rostam Batmanglij, drummer Chris Tomson, and bassist Chris Baio.

Vampire Weekend's third album is a remarkable progression from a band that was already functioning at a high level. The songs are more spontaneous and dynamic and, along with the more lived-in sonics, Modern Vampires finds the group taking a leap forward into emotional directness. One particularly inspired ramble spins an analytic web from a friend's visit to Morocco, the history of the Strait of Gibraltar, a 1984 interview between Bob Dylan and Bono, the film The Secret of Roan Inish, and National Geographic's famed Afghan refugee cover- and not only does it make sense, it's written in a way that's funny.

It’s official: Vampire Weekend really don’t give a fuck about an Oxford comma. On their third album, Ezra Koenig and the band have rid themselves, once and for all, of the precious post-collegiate references that used to be their calling card: The girls of Wellfleet have scattered, and apparently that second horchata didn’t go down as smooth as the first. Koenig is now an old 29; adulthood is inescapable; a clock is ticking in his head.

Modern Vampires quite often touches brilliance, and does so without audibly straining for 'maturity' or pushing hard to be some po-faced Great American Album. The coming months will see new albums from Daft Punk, Vampire Weekend, Boards of Canada, The National, Queens of the Stone Age, and (maybe) Kanye West. Get all the details on these and other major summer releases, and listen to tracks from each one. More .

Album · 2013 · 12 Songs. There are deftly wielded forces of darkness and light at work on Vampire Weekend’s third record. Elegiac, alive with ideas and co-produced by Ariel Rechtshaid, Modern Vampires of the City moves beyond the grabby, backpacking indie of its predecessors. In fact, whether through the hiccuping, distorted storm of Diane Young or Unbelievers -a sprinting guitar-pop jewel about the notion of afterlife-this is nothing less than the sound of a band making a huge but sure-footed creative leap. Modern Vampires of the City Vampire Weekend.
