Neil Young is the self-titled debut studio album by Canadian musician Neil Young following his departure from Buffalo Springfield in 1968, issued on Reprise Records. Some sources place the album's release date on January 22, 1969, while other sources have the release date as Young's 23rd birthday, November 12, 1968. It was then partially remixed and re-released in November 1969, but at no time has the album ever charted on the Billboard 200.

Neil Young was a very welcome surprise guest during the pair's set. He had also been off the road, recording the now legendary Harvest album; the most popular and commercially successful of his entire career. To say the three of them together was a momentous occasion in March of 1972 is not overstating the case, as these guys were at the peak of their popularity. This is a typical recording from an FM radio broadcast from the early '70s-so don't expect anything like pristine sound. And some songs end abruptly at or near the natural end of the song.

Taped on February 7, 1993, and first broadcast on MTV on March 10, Neil Young's Unplugged appearance was released as a home video to coincide with the release of an audio CD version. This 73-minute tape ran seven minutes longer than the album, the extra time consisting of applause, guitar tuning, and a few scattered asides ("Aw, it's nothin', really," Young said, for example, after an audience member called out, "Thank you, Neil").
