In “Hawaii-Tahiti,” each member of the Hui Ohana branched into his own song writing. This may have foreshadowed their dispersal into separate directions. The album contains a rarely-recorded song called “Kui Lee and Home” which is a personal favorite of mine, one, which Ledward has rarely performed live. The album also honors David Kupele with his song "Lehuanani. Kupele was a prolific song writer who also performed with Alfred Apaka. A number of songs celebrate the warm reception Hui Ohana received on tour in Tahiti. Dennis Pavao wrote “My Homeland” and “Moorea Where Are You” to honor his hosts. Ledward wrote “My Sweetheart,” which he also recorded on a solo album, Waltz of the Wind,” more than 20 years later.
