Dexter Gordon (February 27, 1923 – April 25, 1990) was an American jazz tenor saxophonist. He was one of the first players of the instrument in the bebop idiom of musicians such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Bud Powell. Gordon's height was 6 feet 6 inches (198 cm), so he was also known as "Long Tall Dexter" and "Sophisticated Giant". His studio and performance career spanned over 40 years.

This album compiles tracks from Dexter's dates at the Keystone Korner in September 1978 and March 1979. The backing group is George Cables (p), Rufus Reid (b) and Eddie Gladden (d). Playing time is 58:23. The overall mood of the album is relaxed and expansive. Of the four tracks (You've Changed, Body and Soul, I Told You So, As Time Goes By), I Told You So, a Cables original, is the only non-ballad. That track is a medium tempo swinger that shows Dexter fully in the pocket, with an uptempo interlude that unleashes Cables
