Gordon's big, slightly hurt-sounding tenor wail, patient construction and powers of sustained invention were hugely influential (notably on Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane) and there's an inexorable forcefulness about this music, delivered on the three long tracks that made up the original LP, plus an equally sustained bonus
Our Man in Paris is a 1963 jazz album by saxophonist Dexter Gordon. The album's title refers to where the recording was made, Gordon (who had moved to Copenhagen a year earlier) teaming up with fellow expatriates Bud Powell and Kenny Clarke, both Parisian residents, and native Parisian Pierre Michelot. Powell, Clarke and Michelot, under the name The Three Bosses, had played together often in Paris since Powell moved there in 1959.

Info for One Flight Up. Again one wonders: where would jazz have gone without the advent of the LP? Certainly not down the path that brought us the 18-minute 'Tanya,' which originally took up the entire first side of Dexter Gordon's second expatriate album for Blue Note in 1964. Based in Copenhagen since 1962, Gordon assembled a group in Paris for this session, including fellow Americans-abroad Kenny Drew, Donald Byrd and Art Taylor.
