It is the last rehearsal before the next weekend away, this time at Sunderland Monkwearmouth and so the evening was spent in fine tuning some of the pieces required for our visit, especially on music that is still relatively unfamiliar to us and those that need a little reminding of the finer points.

This Cd has a very nice selection of Salvation Army Songster (Choir) music mainly published by the SA itself. The ISS although completely amateur have a quality and richness of sound that you would expect to find from a professional body of singers. One person found this helpful.
The International Staff Songsters (ISS) are a Salvation Army Songster Brigade (choir) based at the UK Territorial Headquarters (THQ) in London and is comprised of songsters selected from Salvation Army corps (churches) who give of their time voluntarily. The choir was formed in 1980 and since that time has toured throughout the UK, as well as Europe, America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe and South Africa and most recently to America (twice) in 2003.

The International Staff Band (or ISB) is the premier brass band of The Salvation Army. The Salvation Army history generally acknowledges 7 October 1891, the date on which Commissioner Bramwell Booth brought the 'International Headquarters Staff Band' into being, as the official starting point for the ISB's existence.
