People Who Died Lyrics. Teddy sniffing glue he was 12 years old Fell from the roof on East Two-nine Cathy was 11 when she pulled the plug On 26 reds and a bottle of wine Bobby got leukemia, 14 years old He looked like 65 when he died He was a friend of mine. Those are people who died, died Those are people who died, died Those are people who died, died Those are people who died, died They were all my friends, and they died.

They released a single "People Who Died", from their 1980 debut album, Catholic Boy. The album featured contributions from Allen Lanier and Bobby Keys. The song also appeared in the 1985 Kim Richards vehicle Tuff Turf starring James Spader and Robert Downey J. which also featured a cameo appearance by the band, as well as 2004's Dawn of the Dead, and in the 2015 Mr. Robot S1 E10. It was featured in the 1995 film The Basketball Diaries (based on Jim Carroll's autobiography), and was covered by John Cale on his Antártida soundtrack. Carroll, 60, died of a heart attack at his Manhattan home on September 11, 2009 His funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Pompeii Roman Catholic Church on Carmine St. in Greenwich Village.

The Jim Carroll Band. On this day in music history: October 20, 1980 - Catholic Boy, the debut album by The Jim Carroll Band is released. Produced by Earl McGrath and Bob Clearmountain, it is recorded at The Power Station in New York City from June - August 1980. A gifted poet and writer since his teens, Jim Carroll sees his poetry work published in magazines and book form beginning in the late 60’s and early 70’s.

People Who Died appeared on the Carroll Band’s 1980 debut, Catholic Boy, and became minor radio hit (Carroll is best known for his 1978 memoir, The Basketball Diaries). For their cover, Against Me! streamline the jagged blues of the original into a relentless, pop-punk ripper, while Laura Jane Grace delivers a vocal performance that captures the song’s surreal blend of tragedy and euphoria. I’ve always thought music was about taking all the sadness, pain, fear and trouble that you have weighing on you and turning it into something empowering, celebratory and life-affirming. Along with Against Me!’s cover of People Who Died, the Songs That Saved My Life compilation will also feature contributions from artists like Taking Back Sunday, Neck Deep, Dance Gavin Dance, Oceans Ate Alaska, the Maine and Dream State. Jim Carroll Band - people who died . Thomas Lauffenberger. Never thought I'd find this song; couldn't even remember where I heard it last 4 years назад. You were very diplomatic with people. That is why you have a bank job for decades. You took very good care of me, I miss the talks, and the walks to visit friends. Pop, me, family members and friends love you forever. Dawn of the Dead brough me here.
