Former Earth Wind & Fire drummer Sonny Emory has a mind-blowing technique whereby he can carry two or three rhythms simultaneously with subtle delicacy rather than percussive power. Unfortunately, it’s so subtle that only another drummer can appreciate it. To the rest of us, it just sounds like he’s not keeping time properly. He keeps his dexterity under control for this funky R&B solo excursion that regularly doffs its cap to Sly & The Family Stone, sometimes more blatantly than others. Hard Rock Cachet' is the vision of Grammy award winning drummer Sonny Emory, previously with such top drawer acts as The B-52's, Earth, Wind & Fire, Steely Dan and Lee Ritenour. Two old friends, Eric Clapton and Bruce Hornsby, are both on board for this latest project which fuses Rock and Funk seamlessly in a high-energy musical experience. Also featured on Sonny's album are the stellar vocals of Shayna Steele who has performed with such greats as Bette Midler and Rihanna, and keyboard genius Morris Pleasure. Twelve, mostly self penned, tracks make up this driving set.

While Emory started the tracks for the album by himself at his home studio in Atlanta, he knew instinctively that he wanted LOVE IS THE GREATEST to be a band project.

Sonny Emory (born December 23, 1962) is an American singer, songwriter, drummer and percussionist. Emory is a former member of the band Earth, Wind & Fire. As well he has worked with artistes such as Steely Dan, Bruce Hornsby, Eric Clapton and the B-52's. Sonny Emory is a native of Atlanta, Georgia who received his first drum set at the age of five. He eventually went on to attend Frederick Douglass High School
