Sonny Stitt is featured in a series of jam sessions recorded in 1964 at Ronnie Scott's in London. While the recording is rather primitive, sounding somewhat muffled and not really picking up all of the instruments equally well, there are some strong performances. The opener, "Ernest's Blues," is an extended piece by guitarist Ernest Ranglin that also features Stitt, who starts on piano initially and then makes a late entrance on tenor sax. Also of interest are the loping treatment of "Oh, Lady Be Good" and a swinging "It Could Happen to Yo. Stitt adds.

Jeff Beck released this live album, recorded at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, on 10 November 2008. Other performers were Jason Rebello on keyboards, Vinnie Colaiuta on drums and Tal Wilkenfeld on bass. The version of "A Day in the Life" featured on this album was awarded a Grammy for Best Instrumental Rock performance

Stitt's extroverted nature is impossible to miss on Live at Ronnie Scott's, which was recorded at the famous London jazz club in May 1964. The saxman plays both alto and tenor during this jam session, and his company includes tenor saxman Dick Morrissey, pianist Terry Shannon, and Jamaican guitarist Ernest Ranglin. While Stitt is in good form on "It Could Happen to You," "Lady Be Good," and various blues items, the sound quality is imperfect by 1964 standards - not bad, but imperfect.
