So does this one have 'S 64080' on the spine, front and back? because from the back cover scan i think I can read 66246 which would make it the same as Soft Machine - Third. Soft Machine plunged deeper into jazz and contemporary electronic music on this pivotal release, which incited The Village Voice to call it a milestone achievement when it was released. It's a double album of stunning music, with each side devoted to one composition - two by Mike Ratledge, and one each by Hopper and Wyatt, with substantial help from a number of backup musicians, including Canterbury mainstays Elton Dean and Jimmy Hastings. The Ratledge songs come closest to fusion jazz, although this is fusion laced with tape loop effects and hypnotic, repetitive keyboard patterns.
Only 3 left in stock (more on the way). Only 3 left in stock (more on the way). Only 1 left in stock (more on the way). This is the last truly great Soft Machine album. The first three albums are completely different from one another and therefore, the band was full of surprises. It is like comparing Rubber Soul, Revolver and Sgt. Pepper. However, after this album the band settled on a "sound" and there were no more surprises from one album to the next. This is also the last time you get to hear Robert Wyatt sing - he only played Drums on the Fourth album and left the band after that album.

Third is the appropriately titled third studio album from English jazz rock band Soft Machine released in 1970. This album marked a complete shift in ambition and genre for the group, transitioning from the psychedelic influence of their early work to a hybrid of both jazz and progressive rock. Released only a couple months after Miles Davis' revolutionary album Bitches Brew, Third is similar in its ambition to merge the jazz and rock worlds together
