Ruby Blue is the debut solo album by Irish singer Róisín Murphy. It was released on 13 June 2005 by Echo. After she and Mark Brydon dissolved their electronic duo Moloko, Murphy began working with producer and musician Matthew Herbert, known for his experimental work in jazz and electronic music. The songs were first released through three extended plays and were then compiled into a studio album.
Ruby Blue were signed from the independent Red Flame label by Fontana. The two original members were Rebecca Pidgeon (lead vocal) and Roger Fife (guitar)and they were joined by Erika Spotswood (backing vocals) and Anthony Coote (guitar) for this, the only album they recorded on Fontana. There was backing from a number of musicians. The result is a superb album combining folk with mainstream pop and a hint of jazz. The group revolved round the talents of Rebecca Pidgeon who wrote most of the material and whose strong vocals are the feature of the group's work

Ruby Blue was a folk pop band formed by singer Rebecca Pidgeon and guitarist Roger Fife in the 1980s. Pidgeon was a student at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. In 1986, her friend Roger Fife, a guitarist, asked her to sing on a demo tape which was then sent to Red Flame Records in London. After hearing the demo, the label signed Pidgeon and Fife and released their first album, Glances Askances. Pidgeon became the lead singer of Ruby Blue, which included Anthony Coote on bass guitar, Erika Spotswood on backing vocals, and Chris Buck on drums. Woods moved to Los Angeles and married Tony Philips, the producer of Ruby Blue's Down from Above album. Fife became a producer and worked with Cyndi Lauper, Antony and the Johnsons, and Tricky.
Ruby Blue were a UK folk rock/pop band of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Fronted by Rebecca Pidgeon, they released a total of four albums, beginning with "Glances Askances" in 1987 and "Down From Above" in 1990. The original members of the band were Rebecca and Roger Fife. Erika Spotswood and Anthony Coote joined for the album "Down From Above". Rebecca Pidgeon left the band in late 1990 due to differences between her and Roger Fife. Rebecca married the playwright David Mamet in 1991
Ruby Blue - Primitive Man from Down From Above, 1990. Sun going down as we followed the stream Two men walking in a primitive dream Rounded the bend and just our luck Head down drinking there's a six point buck Free'd my rifle and my aim was good Buck look startled and he dropped where he stood. Two men hunting in the afternoon Gotta dress out the deer, gotta walk out soon So I drew my knife, and I got to work Bob rolled up his sleeves and he opened his shirt
