All are great songs, but of course the ones by J. Steinman are some of the best rock songs of all time

Midnight at the Lost and Found is a 1983 album by Meat Loaf. This would be the final Meat Loaf release under Epic Records until The Very Best of Meat Loaf (1998). Following a dispute with his former songwriter Jim Steinman, Meat Loaf was contractually obliged to release a new album. According to Meat Loaf, Steinman gave him "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" for the album, but Meat Loaf's record company refused to pay for Steinman.

Hits Out of Hell is a 1984 compilation album by Meat Loaf. It includes seven Jim Steinman songs and the original release featured the hit "Modern Girl" from Bad Attitude, which came out at about the same time. Meat Loaf never liked that he never had any say in these compilations and numerous others soon followed in Hits out of Hell's footsteps. In the original video for "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" as released to television and in 35mm prints, the male/female "Hot Summer Night" prologue from "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth" was spoken live by Jim Steinman and Karla DeVito before the song performance.

Since Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell album is vastly better than its follow-ups, Dead Ringer and Midnight at the Lost and Found, the idea of doing a hits compilation culling familiar tracks from the three albums is not really a good one. But the second and third albums did feature . hits, and Hits does contain the four key tracks from Bat - the title track, "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad," "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth," and "Paradise by the Dashboard Light
