Meat Loaf's official music video for 'Paradise By The Dashboard Light'. I remember every little thing As if it happened only yesterday Parking by the lake And there was not another car in sight And I never had a girl Looking any better than you did And all the kids at school They were wishing they were me that night. And now our bodies are, oh, so close and tight It never felt so good, it never felt so right And we're glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife Glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife C'mon, hold on tight C'mon, hold on tight. Though it's cold and lonely in the deep dark night I can see paradise by the dashboard light

Nothing personal
This 5:25 edit makes the difference between a flop record and a hit record. "Paradise..." started as an 8:28 song that was part of the album "Bat out of hell". An earlier fade was made to make it a 7:55 single. This version was released as a single in many countries, including the Netherlands (there is also a single catalogued EPC 6673 with the 7:55 version on it). However, many radio stations refused to play this record because of its length. So it was decided to edit the track even more, leaving out the baseball-play-by-play and also some vocal and instrumental parts, but still keeping the song meaningful. The result was a 5:25 edit that was repressed as a single. It was this version that caused a lot of airplay in our country and as a result of it, it went straight to numer one and the album made it to number one as well. This 5:25 edit was even making impact in the United States, where it was included as the B-side to a re-released "You took the words right out of my mouth" (8-50634). This re-issue made it to No. 39 in the Billboard Hot 100, the same result as "Paradise..." as the original 7:55 A-side.
