The steady, spare kind of instrumentation that drove the golden age of post-punk - acts like Mission of Burma and Echo & The Bunnymen - is revitalized on Tired Eyes, and Cayetana endow their post-punk with an aerial, harmonious spirit that even makes it seem like they’re on the verge of doing post-rock. Opener freedom1313 perfects the use of negative space, as chords ring out and riffs rest for a little while before Cayetana decides to reprise them; the song’s instrumental tension is executed so well, with just three players. The EP’s title is derived from the lyrics, Oh my tired eyes, torn a grave disguise.
