Weasels Ripped My Flesh is the seventh studio album by the American rock band the Mothers of Invention, and the tenth overall by Frank Zappa, released in 1970. It is the second album released after the Mothers disbanded in 1969, preceded by Burnt Weeny Sandwich. In contrast to its predecessor, which almost entirely focused on studio recordings of arranged compositions, Weasels Ripped My Flesh consists of a combination of live and studio recordings and features more improvisation.

This is basically an compilation, with the majority being recorded live, of various Mothers performances from 67 to 69 which ended up being titled "Weasels Ripped My Flesh" and was actually the last release before the first era of the group disbanded. The music is probably very representative of the weird stage acrobatics the band was known for and the album ranges from free-jazz, chamber rock, tape-collages, blues to pure noise (like the title track, go figure!), a real mixed bag overall.

Complex Elaborate Energetic Freewheeling Humorous Ironic Irreverent Quirky Rowdy. The Mothers of Invention, Frank Zappa. Weasels Ripped My Flesh. A fascinating collection of mostly instrumental live and studio material recorded by the original Mothers of Invention, complete with horn section, from 1967-1969, Weasels Ripped My Flesh segues unpredictably between arty experimentation and traditional song structures

Although it retains the same cover as the original LP, which gives the artist only as "The Mothers of Invention", the spine and disc printing give the artist only as "Frank Zappa". This album was originally released in February 1970. It was digitally remastered for CD at UMRK in 1989. Material contained herein represents different aspects of our work from 1967-1969. 'Didja Get Any Onya' was recorded live at the Philadelphia Arena

Perhaps the most diverse Mothers album of its time, WEASELS ranges from the avant excursion "Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbeque" to the relatively tuneful "Orange County Lumber Truck," from the onstage hijinks on "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Sexually Aroused Gas Mask" to the social satire, a la WE'RE ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY, heard on "Oh No". "My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama" would sum up rock'n'roll brattiness for years to come; some kid named Dweezil Zappa even recorded it in the '80s  . Zappa has a lot to be proud of. During his lifetime he has reached many peaks.

The Mothers of Invention were already in Frank's rear view mirror when 1970's Weasels Ripped My Flesh was released. He may have broken up the band in '69, but Zappa was never one to waste a track; in fact, he had already released one posthumous Mothers album earlier that year, the classic Burnt Weeny Sandwich. Unlike its predecessor, Weasels contained both studio and live tracks, a strategy that he stuck with for the rest of recording career
