Never Trust a Hippy captures the political frustration and self-loathing of Wolves in Wolves’ Clothing in about a third of the time. Seeing Double at the Triple Rock is one of NOFX’s best rock songs; the ode to drinking at a Minneapolis club features one of El Hefe’s tightest guitar riffs. Hefe’s blinding speed turns up again in another party-going song, Everything in Moderation (Especially Moderation), which has a guitar part so wonderfully dizzying that it captures the whirlwind nights described in the lyrics

Never Trust a Hippy is an EP by the American punk rock band NOFX, released March 14, 2006 through Fat Wreck Chords. Released a month in advance of the band's tenth studio album, Wolves in Wolves' Clothing, the EP includes two tracks from the album and four others recorded during the album's recording sessions.

Album Never Trust a Hippy. You're wrong about virtues of Christianity And you're wrong if you agree with Sean Hannity If you think that pride is about nationality, you're wrong. You're wrong when you imprison people turning tricks And you're wrong about trickle down economics If you think that punk rock doesn't mix with politics, you're wrong. You're wrong for hating queers and eating steers If you kill for the thrill of the hunt You're wrong 'bout wearing fur and not hating Ann Coulter Cause she's. You're wrong fighting Jihad, your blind faith in God Your religions are all flawed You're wrong about drug use, when its not abuse I hope you never reproduce. You're getting high on the downlow A victim of Cointelpro You're wrong and will probably never know.

As sad as it is to see this, NOFX have become something of a joke in the pop-punk world. A band once thought of as the pioneers and carriers of a dying genre into a new generation are now seen as ranting Anti-Flag wannabes with nothing better to do than pedal more Bush propaganda. It's also sad that this overshadows most of their material. But 2006 might see a triumphant return to these aging punksters. Their album, Wolves in Wolves’ Clothing, will be released later this year, and the traditional promotion EP is a sampler of what's to come. It contains 2 songs from the soon-to-be released full-length, along with 2 tracks from the exclusive 7" club and 2 made specifically for this EP. I pulled up Winamp and hit the Play button, and held my breath as the first track began.

Not for the uptight or conservative - after all, the album artwork depicts NOFX kicking it and getting drunk with Jesus - if this EP is any indication of their upcoming album, fans should be met with something rather tasty.

Never Trust a Hippy (or NTAH) is the first solo album by Adrian Sherwood. It was released on Peter Gabriel's Real World Records label. It includes guest performances by Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare and S. E. Rogie (sampled from the title track of the album Dead Men Don't Smoke Marijuana). The album also contains Sherwood's remix of the track "Paradise of Nada" by Rizwan Muazzam Qawwali and Temple of Sound. Official album page (Real World Records).
