Go Your Own Way" is a song by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac from their eleventh studio album Rumours (1977). It released as the album's first single in December 1976 on both sides of the Atlantic. Written and sung by Lindsey Buckingham, it became the band's first top ten hit in the United States. The album spawned three additional top ten singles, including the band's sole number one hit, "Dreams".

Go Your Own Way was the first single from Fleetwood Mac’s award winning eleventh LP Rumours, from 1977. This album was written during the fallout of many relationships within the band. This song was written by their lead male vocalist Lindsey Buckingham. At the time Lindsey was dating their other powerhouse female vocalist Stevie Nicks. was the glue that brought the whole song into focus. This song and album is regarded as one of their best songs/albums and one of the greatest records of all time. This song was covered by NOFX on their 1989 classic album S&M Airlines. What have the artists said about the song? Stevie Nicks did not leave the shacking up qup unanswered: I very much resented him telling the world that ‘packing up, shacking up’ with different men was all I wanted to d. Sourced here.

That, in turn, suddenly resulted in large royalty checks for Peter Green It reached on the United Kingdom's Singles chart.

While Go Your Own Way, reached a respectable Number 10, it no doubt pleased Nicks when Dreams sailed all the way to the top of the Billboard charts. It remains Fleetwood Mac’s only Number One single in the United States. The track remained a relative deep cut until it was included on Fleetwood Mac’s 1997 live album, The Dance. This new version earned the band a Grammy, and earned Nicks some serious gratification. You have to realize that ‘Silver Springs’ was so genuinely kicked off the record 20 years ago, and I was so genuinely devastate. ecause I loved the song, she told MTV at the time.
