Raphy Leavitt is curiously absent in his role as composer in his eighth album for Borinquen Records. The band's style has moved up the ladder as far as musical quality goes. There was the predicament that most salsa acts on the island have begun to show stagnation and decrease in popularity. Nevertheless, this LP scores, thanks to the efforts of Jorge Millet and his ingenious charts ("Cosquillita" is a piece as intricate as it is fun). This album also features 21-year-old Tony Vega in his recording debut. Future top musicians like Carlos "Charlie" Sierra and arranging.
So sad with Raphy Leavitt's passing. this one has a nice tribute to him by his long time singer, Sammy Marrero. Just like all music by La Selecta, I also enjoyed this one very much.
