Lache Pas La Patate apart, the album comprised well-loved traditional songs such as Jolie Blonde, Allons A Lafayette and Hippy-Ty-Yo. All 12 LP tracks are included here and feature the fluent fiddle of Jimmy's long-time bandleader Rufus Thibodeaux. Indeed, the fiddle work throughout this CD is quite outstanding. Rufus Thibodeaux has his own instrumentals, as does the late, great Doc Guidry who also dispenses two vocals. Both men accompany the delightful twin-fiddle style, of an in-form Vin Bruce, still one of the most popular Cajun vocalists in the bayou areas of Southeast Louisiana.

Newman, a frequent Grand Ole Opry performer; this began a long association between the two, including on Newman's first hit, "Cry Cry Darling". Alongside his time with Newman, Thibodeaux played in the studios behind Lefty Frizzell, George Jones, Jim Reeves, Slim Harpo, Carol Channing, Neil Young, and many others. His 1970 recording with Newman of the song "Lache Pas la Patate" was the first song sung in Cajun French ever to reach Gold status. In 1987, he released a solo album, The Cajun Country Fiddle of Rufus Thibodeaux.
Rufus is the debut album by American R&B and funk band Rufus, released on the ABC Records label in 1973 fronted by singers Chaka Khan and Ron Stockert. The album is notable for an upbeat rock/soul sound that would be replaced by a more heavy direction into funk and jazzy-styled recordings. Rufus was formed in 1969 by Kevin Murphy and Al Ciner from the background of two rival bands in Chicago.
Rufus Thibodeaux was an American Cajun music fiddler. Alongside his time with Newman, Thibodeaux played in the studios behind Текст песни: Hey! Lche pas la patate, mon neg! Lche pas la patate! Shake and swing and do my thing; Mais lche pas la patate! . Shake and swing and do my thing; Mais lche pas la patate! I go out, it’s Saturday night, And give it all I’ve got! I dance with all the pretty girls! Mais lche pas la patate! From Lafayette to Ville Platte, down! I make all the spots! In 1970, Thibodeaux backed Newman on "Lache Pas la Patate," the first single in Cajun French ever certified gold. For La Louisianne Records, he also cut a solo record, The Cajun Country Fiddle of Rufus Thibodeaux. During his later years Thibodeaux battled diabetes, which forced the 1999 amputation of his leg but did little to curtail his busy recording schedule. He died in Nashville on August 12, 2005.
