Harry Crews was a short-lived no wave-influenced hardcore punk and crossover thrash supergroup made up of Lydia Lunch (guitar), Kim Gordon (bass), and Sadie Mae (drums). The band was only musically active in 1988, therefore they only officially produced and released one album, Naked in Garden Hills. The album was released in 1989 and was a compilation of live recordings played at clubs in London, UK and Austria
Naked in Garden Hills was snatched during two live shows in Vienna and London, a bag of scraps that runs the length of noise rock, through motorik drags and thrash relays. But the sonic heart of the LP lies with no-wave as it exited its low-key 80’s genesis and stepped drunkenly into the full-bodied 90’s. Crews, the notoriously loudmouthed, raucous writer, figures just about everywhere here, with Gordon and Lunch reciting passages from his essays, and naming most every song after his work. Lunch and Gordon being who they are, coupled with the record being strung out of two live shows, there’s.
Their one album, Naked In Garden Hills, took its name from a novel by their namesake (as did many of the song titles), and was a compilation of live recordings from clubs in the UK and Austria. Members: Kim Gordon, Lisa Tomicich, Lydia Lunch.

A side project based upon Georgia author Harry Crews that only lasted for 13 live concerts in Europe in September 1988. Band members were Lydia Lunch of Teenage Jesus & the Jerks, Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth on bass and wrestler Sadie Mae on drums. Pat Place was in the initial line-up. The live album "Naked In Garden Hills" was named after a novel by Crews, and songs such as "Car", "Knockout Artist" and "The Gospel Singer" were also named after Crews' novels. Naked in Garden Hills. The Way Out.
As Harry Crews demonstrates evocatively in A Childhood: The Biography of a Place (1978), he knows well the people of whom Lytle and the Agrarians write, and the characters in his fiction are the sort of souls that the Agrarians-and particularly Lytle, in his contrast between pre- and post-lapsarian poor whites-lamented over in their famous tract. Written nearly forty years after the publication of I'll Take My Stand, Naked in Garden Hills closely echoes the earlier critique of the new economy of the South.
Their one album, Naked In Garden Hills, released in 1989, was a compilation of live recordings at clubs in London, UK and Austria. The album was named after a novel by the author Harry Crews, and songs such as Car, The Knockout Artist and The Gospel Singer were also named after Crews' novels. The song Bringing Me Down is introduced as a song about a snake festival, a subject Crews wrote about in the novel A Feast Of Snakes. The band also performed Sonic Youth 's She's In A Bad Mood and Teenage Jesus & the Jerks ' Orphans.
