Golden Hour is the fourth studio album by American country music singer and songwriter Kacey Musgraves, released on March 30, 2018, through MCA Nashville. Musgraves co-wrote all 13 tracks and co-produced the album with Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk. The album debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200. Golden Hour received widespread acclaim from critics, winning in all four of its nominated categories at the 61st Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Country Album.

Golden Hour is Kacey’s third studio album, and continues to branch out her self-described style of cosmic country. Packed with love songs and dreamy instrumentals, the singer-songwriter bounces between acoustic melodies and trippy electronic effects. The LP features her previously released singles Space Cowboy and Butterflies. along with the upbeat disco single High Horse. Kacey revealed in a Billboard interview that she was stuck in an un-creative place for a while. Then in 2016, she met singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly–Kacey’s now husband and collaborator on Golden Hour

Kacey Musgraves’ third album goes down so smoothly that it might not even scan as a total reinvention. Throughout the songs on Golden Hour, the East Texas singer-songwriter is radiant, awestruck, taking the scenic route to the bar just for the hell of it. After Musgraves’ previous two albums, which felt like they were cut from the same home-sewn flannel cloth, she now ventures beyond the front-porch hum of country music. The new Kacey Musgraves needs strings, vocoders, disco beats. Since her last proper album, 2015’s Pageant Material, the now 29-year-old singer-songwriter has changed her perspective. There was a spirited Christmas record, a creatively charged acid trip, and a rustic country wedding. It’s like Musgraves’ life was given the season-finale treatment: a series of climactic turns that left her standing misty-eyed on a cliffside, bellowing I get it! at the sunrise.

Kacey Musgraves on Why She Calls Her ‘Golden Hour’ Album ‘Space Country’. Grammy-winning singer-songwriter’s third LP finds the sweet spot where futurism meets traditionalism. Kacey Musgraves' new album 'Golden Hour' mixes elements of country, folk and dreamy electronica. Kelly Christine Sutton. She fully grows into that moniker on her latest album, the lush Golden Hour, a collection of country, folk and dreamy electronica that she sums up as space country or galactic country

She has talked about the influence of Sade on her work, of futuris. pace country, galactic cosmic country and of how the album’s closing track Rainbow is intended to speak to LGBTQ youth

Kacey Musgraves' 'Golden Hour' wins Best Album at 2019 Grammys. Nearly a year after its release, Kacey Musgraves’ third full-length album might be the most universally admired album Nashville has produced in years. Golden Hour has proved to have the sort of crossover appeal that a record label would tirelessly plot to achieve. But according to Musgraves’ co-producers, Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian, the sessions were free from outside meddling. Two-time Grammy-winning country artist Kacey Musgraves returns with a magnificent, third studio album, ‘Golden Hour’, which appeals beyond the country audience. Kacey Musgraves is back at it! The two-time, Grammy-winning country artist returns with her first original material since Pageant Material (2015). Unfortunately, Pageant Material was an incredibly underrated affair. It shouldn’t have been. No need to cry over spilled milk, as the old saying goes. Musgraves shines on her highly-anticipated, third studio album, Golden Hour.

Golden Hour makes mincemeat of the fuss about country women crossing over. Photo: Andrew Lipovsky/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images. Like porcelain, Kacey Musgraves’s voice seems both sturdy and delicate at the same time. She can bowl you over belting out big notes, but she’s every bit as commanding at a whisper

Stunning album, immaculate pressing. Quiet vinyl and great detIk, tone and bass

Amazing pressing. Got mine from Amazon UK so it's still easy to find.
Exellent
No distortion! Clear vocals! Oh my! Don't waste your money on the US pressing, this is the one you want. Still affordable in the Amazon marketplace (check the shipping location for UK) if you need a copy.
Fast Lovebird
is the EU version of the album on heavyweight vinyl?
Konetav
It definitely is, seems like an appropriate 180 grams. Ten words.

I do not own this album, so I cannot speak specifically for either pressings. With that said, it's been my experience that the complaints about colored (and especially clear) vinyl are either uncalled for or highly exaggerated. I own several clear and white vinyl records (apparently the two colors that have the most problems) and not a single one has a quality issue. Quite the contrary, actually: one of my white albums (Running Wild by Grieves) and one of my clear records (All the Beauty in This Whole Life by Brother Ali) have some of the highest quality of my collection. Glad to hear that your European copy is doing you well!
Fordredor
The only reason coloured vinyl has had a bad wrap is that over the years many were unofficial and used coloured vinyl as the drawcard, therefore the it was the quality control rather than the vinyl colour that was the issue.
Uscavel
I 100% agree about the colours having any sort of effect on the actual sound of the pressing. With that being said, this is an absolute shit pressing... such a great album, though.
Ka
Does anybody know if the European version is any better than the US one? Seriously want this in my collection, but don't want to buy lame sounding press.
Alien
They had to re-press the U.S. edition due to quality issues. So if you go with a sealed U.S. pressing it's hit or miss. I have not heard anything negative about the European version.
Hugighma
Eventually I bought the EU press and it sounds brilliant. Very happy with the purchase, highly recommended for those who have enjoyed the record.
Arador
I´ve got the EU version and I can´t complain. Nothing spectacular, but it is a decent sounding pressing without any surface noise. Will definitely keep it.
BeatHoWin
I heavent heard the US pressings, but my EU copy sounds fine, not much to no noise at all.
