Catholic Spit – Catholic Spit/ Generacion Suicida Split 7 Inch (MMM Discos). Like their fellow deathrockers in Fangs on Fur and Christ vs Warhol - two bands that, like Catholic Spit, are from Southern California - Catholic Spit inject their take on deathrock with a fiery punk sensibility and energy. This 6 person (!) band has been fairly prolific compared to other bands in the genre. Catholic Spit’s 7-song Pact with the Devil LP was released in late 2012 and was followed only a few months later with the uptempo I’m Your God Now 2-song 7″. And now comes this split, which you can stream for free at the band’s Bandcamp page. Ericka’s vocals shriek - in a good way - through watery, flangey guitars (think John McGeoch), backed up by Nick Townsend’s andrenalized, uptempo punk-style drumming and Kaleb’s rock solid bass. Townsend also did the band’s recordings for this release.

Catholic Spit- A Pact With The Devil LP. Whoa, this is some really cool Punked out Deathrock. Kind of like 45 Grave’s and . L’s long forgotten baby with a healthy dose of tempo changes, Female vocals and spite. Flanged guitars spit mighty menacing riffage and bouncing, gloomy bass strumming seeps through each song. Gloomy Punk Rock that really leaves a mark. Nice packaging on this one too with a cool 16 page booklet including lyrics, info about the songs and some creepy cryptic drawings. I'm your god now

Voodoo Church (1982-present). Misfits (1977-present) 1950s horror told by crazy guys with guitars and muscles. Dev Hynes - a British musician who started out in a punk band Test Icicles then went solo as a folk/indie musician as Lightspeed Champion and now is doing an electronic/R&B thing as Blood Orange. L’Arc-en-Ciel - Okay, so these guys are Japan’s other most famous export. These guys got known outside of japan for doing some major anime theme songs (Fullmetal Alchemist, Gundam 00, NANA live action movie, etc) and were the first Japanese act to headline Madison Square Garden (Japanese rock bands really like New York for some reason).
