The discography of Pete Seeger, an American folk singer, consists of 52 studio albums, 23 compilation albums, 22 live albums, and 31 singles. Seeger's musical career started in 1940 when he joined The Almanac Singers. He stayed with the group for two years until he was drafted into the Army. After the end of World War II, Seeger helped found an organization known as People's Songs, along with the influential folk music magazine People's Songs Bulletin.

The origins of this album, which originally appeared in 1954 (though the actual recording date is a subject of debate), is a real mystery. The live recordings were very clearly derived from pre-tape sources, specifically 78 rpm lacquers, which means they date from before 1950, or even from before 1947. But as a red vinyl (!!!) 12" LP from 1957 turned up only decades later, not having shown up in any reference sources, the whole provenance of this collection may take some major detective work.

About PETE SEEGER: How can one summarize a life and career that have touched so many people for so long? That question has been tackled by a spate of recent Pete Seeger biographies and documentaries, and Pete’s updated ok, Where Have All the Flowers Gone: A Singalong Memoir, is due in late November 2009. Springsteen’s 2006 We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions CD, subsequent tours, DVD and live album were originally sparked by a 1998 request from Appleseed for a Bruce rendition of a Seeger-related song. Bruce recorded We Shall Overcome for Appleseed’s first Seeger tribute, Where Have All the Flowers Gone: The Songs of Pete Seeger (1998).

Arlo Guthrie and Pete Seeger often perform together. I already had their 2003 album so I knew their 1994 album would be great. Pete was younger then and his voice was smoother but his voice is still good at age 94. He is an American treasure. We recently saw him in concert on August 3, 2013 and he was great. I am also an Arlo Guthrie fan. I have followed his creative works for some time and have many of his CDs. i highly recommend this album. One person found this helpful.
