Album I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning. First Day of My Life Lyrics. This is the first day of my life I swear I was born right in the doorway I went out in the rain; suddenly, everything changed They're spreading blankets on the beach Yours is the first face that I saw I think I was blind before I met you Now I don’t know where I am I don’t. Remember the time you drove all night Just to meet me in the morning? And I thought it was strange, you said everything changed You felt as if you'd just woke up And you said This is the first day of my life I’m glad I didn’t die before I met you But now, I don’t care; I could go anywhere with you And I’d probably be happy. So if you want to be with me With these things, there’s no telling We just have to wait and see But I’d rather be working for a paycheck Than waiting to win the lottery Aha mmm Beside, maybe this time is different?

Cause it seems that it's always changing, the wind's indicision, the sorrowful rain. I was a postcard, I was a record, I was a camera until I went blind. Now I'm riding all over this island, looking for something to open my eyes. But I still sing Glory, from a highrise. I will say thanks, if you're pouring my drinks. The sun came up with no conclusions. Flowers sleeping in their beds. The city cemetary's humming, I'm wide awake it's morning. I have my drugs I have my woman. They keep away my lonliness.

Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning. I've never really seen this as a break up album either, but outside of First Day of My Life, I think it's still pretty dark. Just in a much broader sense. The nagging darkness in society and the human condition and whatnot. Also, I think Road to Joy is the Bright Eyes equivalent of Fight the Power lol. SH!TSTACKRECORDS.
Album · 2005 · 10 Songs. Released alongside the electronic experiments of Digital Ash in a Digital Urn, I’m Wide Awake It’s Morning shows off Conor Oberst’s folksy side, which had matured from fragile and volatile to surprisingly full-blooded. Occasionally joined by Emmylou Harris (whose ty approach, no doubt, influenced Oberst’s own), Oberst sounds alternately personal and political, angry but openhearted.
I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning. Let's start with the album that's merely "decent. Oberst and producer Mike Mogis had talked about making a more rhythmic and electronic album since even before Lifted, and Digital Ash in a Digital Urn finally realizes that project, setting Oberst in front of a rock band, beats and strings.
