Fever is the third studio album by Welsh heavy metal band, Bullet for My Valentine. Containing eleven tracks, the album was released on 26 and 27 April 2010 in the UK and in the US, respectively. The album sold 71,000 copies in the US and 21,965 in the UK in its first week of release to debut at position No. 3 on The Billboard 200 and No. 1 on Billboard's Rock and Alternative charts, making it the band's most g record to date.

It is the definitive record of the explosion that took over Pop culture, that has come to be known as Disco. Disco lives on today under different names like Club, House, Trance, Rave, and others. I was listening to the radio in the car recently and "More Than a Woman" came on and I got a big grin on my face as I listened to it. And I realized I did that any time I hear music from Saturday Night Fever, which isn't too often these days. So feeling a bit nostalgic, I decided that despite the fact that disco is long dead, that even though there's a stigma attached to anything disco related (it's just not cool), and wasn't a form of music that I was particularly into in the first place, that I would finally get a CD copy of the soundtrack.

Saturday Night Fever, although hardly as prodigious an artistic achievement as those precursors, was precisely that kind of musical phenomenon for the second half of the '70s. Ironically, before its release, the disco boom had seemingly run its course, primarily in Europe, and was confined mostly to black culture and the gay underground in America. Saturday Night Fever, as a movie and an album, plus a brace of hit singles off of it, suddenly made disco explode into mainstream, working- and middle-class America with a new immediacy and urgency, increasing its audience ten-fold overnight.

The album features most of the moment's major bands (minus Nirvana), as well as forebears like Paul Westerberg and Jimi Hendrix and alterna-fellow travelers Smashing Pumpkins, with highlights including two righteous Pearl Jam songs, a rabid Soundgarden screamer ("Birth Ritual"), a cavernous banger from Alice In Chains ("Would?") and a barnburning. In a nod to Saturday Night Fever, Chuck Berry's "You Never Can Tell" becomes a freaky courtship ritual. And "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" will never again be heard without an image of Uma Thurman singing along, snorting heroin and dropping dead (albeit just for a moment). The reggae equivalent to Saturday Night Fever defined the music globally at a time when, to audiences beyond the Caribbean and émigré towns, Bob Marley and the Wailers might as well have been an Italian doo-wop group.
