20 Greatest Hits is a compilation album featuring a selection of songs by The Beatles that were number one singles in the UK and US. It was released on 11 October 1982 in the United States and 18 October in the United Kingdom and marked the 20th anniversary of The Beatles' first record release, "Love Me Do," in the UK in October 1962.

1963 - Please Please Me. 1963 - With The Beatles. 1964 - A Hard Day& Night. 1964 - Beatles For Sale. 1964 - Meet The Beatles! 1964 - Something New. 1965 - Help!

This is the last album of the Beatles recorded on two tracks. It's also the definitive greatest hits album released by the band, in that all the songs are on one disc and this album shows just how big they were; 27 number one hits in total between the US and UK.

Greatest Hits Volume 1 is a greatest hits compilation album by The Beatles which was exclusive to Australia, Singapore and New Zealand. The album was compiled by EMI Australia to fill in the gap between Rubber Soul and Revolver (much like A Collection of Beatles Oldies would in 1966 in between Revolver and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band).

They had the rights to the biggest group in the world ever, the Beatles, and the only way to make any new money out of them was to either rely on steady but unspectacular sales of all their catalog albums or put together a new version of a greatest-hits.

It was 50 years ago today: The Beatles released Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, an album of profound significance in the arc of modern music. On the most basic level, this was yet another batch of amazing Beatles songs in a career full of them, but its impact on music history is much deeper than that. Sgt. Pepper solidified the LP as not just a collection of singles and filler but a full-length creative statement.

The White Album is the best Beatles album because it shows most fully the Beatles range of songwriting skills and influence. From anger to adulation to sadness to joy to depression to mockery to the sublime. Everyone is writing at their best (even Ringo wrote a hit!). The White Album is the perfect example of what the Beatles were: the greatest interpreters of the world's music. No other album encompasses their genius as completely.
