Sweeney Todd is a Canadian glam rock band formed in Vancouver in 1975. The band's original lead vocalist Nick Gilder left the band to start a solo career, and was replaced by a young Bryan Adams, who later enjoyed international success as a solo artist. The band, formed in Vancouver, British Columbia, originally consisted of vocalist Nick Gilder, guitarist Jim McCulloch, bassist Budd Marr, keyboardist Dan Gaudin and drummer John Booth.

Sweeney Todd is a fictional character who first appeared as the villain of the Victorian penny dreadful serial The String of Pearls (1846–47). The tale became a staple of Victorian melodrama and London urban legend, and has been retold many times since, most notably in the Tony award–winning Broadway musical by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler. Claims that Sweeney Todd was a historical person are strongly disputed by scholars, although possible legendary prototypes exist.

Billboard at that point in history only had US based charts. On the old CHUM chart out of Toronto (not associated with the then national RPM charts that I don't have the stats for), Roxy Roller peaked at & charted for 12 week in June 1976, which would have been the version with Nick Gilder in the group.
