As is befitting their quixotic sound, the Little Ones's first LP is a gloriously euphoric indie album that's not ashamed to wear its pop influences on its sleeve. Morning Tide" leans towards the convivial nature of the Spinto Band and the bittersweet splendour of the Shins. Meanwhile, "Tangerine Vision" and "All Your Modern Boxes" has an early Nineties Britpop vibe to it. If you've been hunting a feel-good album for the summer, you need look no further. Pick of the Album: The deliriously sun-kissed 'Morning Tide'

Album opener "Morning Tide" has the kind of hook that will stick and some nice production tricks; the ballad "Rise & Shine" is suitably melodic and sweet; "Like a Spoke on a Wheel" has a title alone worthy of a Coldplay-lite band. Will the massive success they seem to be aiming for happen for the Little Ones? Most likely not - in fact, they seem more likely to end up like their producer Dave Newton's band, the Mighty Lemon Drops. That band desperately wanted to be Echo & the Bunnymen or U2, but never really caught on with the public.

The slower songs do have the effect of balancing the album. Even some of the upbeat tunes, usually The Little Ones' strength, are sometimes in danger of veering from endearing into cloying. 60. If The Little Ones' debut had been released in June, it would undoubtedly have been proclaimed the soundgrack of the summer, but the band's relentlessly bright, angst-free sound seems to have even greater appeal the darker and shirter the days become.

2008 album from the . Alt-Popsters recorded by Dave Newton in LA, and mixed by James Ford, Morning Tide is a sun-kissed, soaring record, a leap on from the mini-album Sing Song that so captured critics hearts early in 2007. Taking that blueprint, they've added another dimension with this album. Its like they've taken the DNA of Sing Song and added something extra, reached further than before created something far more alive. 11 tracks featuring the singles 'Ordinary Song' and 'Morning Tide'.

The Little Ones' agenda is to make angst-free pop - a song only makes the cut if it first makes the band dance. This debut ticks both boxes. Every song is a sugarcoated mood enhancer, with harmonies and hooks reminiscent of the Shins and Magic Numbers and the clean lines, vivid colours and California sun of a Hockney painting. The fuzz-rock bass of Everybody's Up to Something surprises, and Boracay sounds like Vampire Weekend on vacation in paradise
