Mongrel are a British-Irish band formed in 2008, by former Arctic Monkeys bassist Andy Nicholson. Alongside Nicholson in the band are Jon McClure and Joe Moskow, both of Reverend and The Makers, Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell and Matt Helders from Arctic Monkeys as well as London rapper Lowkey from the Poisonous Poets. Mongrel released their first album Better Than Heavy on 7 March 2009.

Mongrel (The Number Twelve Looks Like You album). Mongrel is the third full-length album by American mathcore band The Number Twelve Looks Like You. Recorded in Seattle over a four-month period, it is the follow-up to 2005's Nuclear In its opening week, it reached a Peak Position of 19 on the Top Heatseeker, and 34 on top Independent Albums Billboard Charts. On April 12, 2015 the album was re-released on limited addition, hand numbered cassettes.

Constant Mongrel are one of those completely simplistic bands, caveman drumming, minimal guitar and frantic bass, which are completely necessary for the continued existence of rock ‘n’ roll. We need people out there that are willing to just go for it, to not over think things and not release every belch and whistle that they record, people with more integrity than fidelity; for all these reasons and more, the world needs Constant Mongrel  . Unlike many electronic musicians, who seem content to work with ill-defined and ambivalent moods, North Philadelphia’s Rough Year is first and foremost a story-teller, whose work has a clear thematic focus. Their music is characterized by themes of dispossession, abandonment, alienation and forced assimilation. Specifically, Rough Year has turned their attention toward the resurgence of civil rights protests around the world
