Sorrow" is a song first recorded by The McCoys in 1965 and released as the B-side to their cover of "Fever". It became a big hit in the United Kingdom in a version by The Merseys, reaching number 4 on the UK chart on 28 April 1966. A version by David Bowie charted worldwide in 1973. A line from the song - "With your long blonde hair and your eyes of blue" - is used in the Beatles song "It's All Too Much" which was featured on their 1969 album Yellow Submarine.

David Bowie is the self-titled debut studio album by English musician David Bowie, released on 1 June 1967, on Deram Records. Its content bears little overt resemblance to the type of music that later made him famous, such as the folk rock of "Space Oddity" or the glam rock of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

David Bowie's cover is the most famous version of "Sorrow. It comes from his cover project album, Pin Ups, released in 1973, which peaked at and stayed in the UK album charts for 21 weeks. The album later re-entered the charts on two more occasions, for 15 weeks peaking at and for one more week at "Sorrow" itself was the only single from Pin Ups to chart, staying for 15 weeks on the UK singles chart, peaking at The B-side was "Amsterdam," a song originally by Belgian singer-songwriter Jacques Brel

According to http://www.bigboppa.co.uk/45-sleeves/ The blue/orange sleeves weren't used until mid '75 so the record would have originally released in a Green/White sleeve which was used from '69 to '75.
