Cymande (pronounced see-man-day) is the self-titled debut album by British funk group Cymande. It was released in 1972 through Janus Records and produced entirely by John Schroeder. Recording sessions took place at De Lane Lea Studios in London. The album peaked at number 85 on the Billboard 200 and number 24 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums in the United States. It spawned two singles, "The Message" and "Bra", both made it to the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, reaching and respectively.
Cymande recorded their 3rd album in Chicago at the Chess/Janus Studios, where artists such as Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry and the Rolling Stones had previously recorded. But while the band embraced the opportunity and enjoyed the sights and sounds of Chicago, the frantic pace of their meteoric rise in the . finally caught up with them. Musically, the magic remained, yet, the tell-tale signs of tiredness, tetchiness and being away from home for long periods of time began to show. The third album Promised Heights was released in 1974, through Contempo Records in England.
Together, fore we go Forever like it was before Remember, you've been told Together, we can go My brother, I watch you go Like a river, all love has flow Make your way, don't help me Don't watch where I go Make your way, don't help me Don't watch where I go Together, fore we go Forever like.
Cymande officially reunited in 2012, with most of their original members - including frontmen Scipio and Patterson. In 2015, they released A Simple Act of Faith, their first album in four decades.
