Slowly We Rot. Obituary. Produced by Scott Burns. Album Slowly We Rot. Slowly We Rot Lyrics. Kill all! Fight death! Lesions fighting love. Fight them all in a living hell Slowly rot and you die You fight death as you slowly realize Kill them all Fight death and slowly read in the love Fight them all, join me, slowly we rot Slowly we rot! Dead to all Fighting as you slowly read in your love Fighting the sword The sword is your plow Dead to all Fighting as you're slowly rotting in hell Fight them all, join me, slowly we dwell Slowly we dwell! Decharge! More on Genius.

Obituary's death metal debut album Slowly We Rot was a ground-breaking release at the end of the 1980s. As one of the pioneers of this genre they created a heavy album where everything was monstrous. From their down-tuned guitar riffs, deep growls and moans and distinct tempo changes. The songs are often slowing down to a doomy tempo, a revolutionary thing at the time of release. Slowly We Rot is inspired brilliance, where the meaning of the title is illustrated in the music and lyrics

Each Obituary album has its own identity with subtle differences, yet still being unmistakably Obituary. Slowly We Rot has the driest, bone-crunchingest (I think I just made that word up), most cacophonous guitar tone they've ever utilized throughout their long career, with a touch more of their thrash roots showing through. I would say the most obvious comparison to Slowly We Rot in terms of guitar tone and riffing would be another Florida band with an album out this very same year: Morbid Angel  . Although Obituary was the first band that introduced me to the incredible realm that is death metal, I found "Slowly We Rot" to be somewhat sludgy and really slow in some areas. Their brand of death metal is that slow, almost grungy type that I am not really fond of.

Album · 1989 · 14 Songs. Unlike most of the Florida bands that first defined death metal at the tail end of the ’80s, Obituary didn’t rely strictly on lightning speed. In fact, on songs like ’Til Death and Slowly We Rot, they often sludged in the opposite direction, fabricating rigor mortis like the corpses John Tardy was barking and burping about. He sounds unbelievably malevolent, and between chainsaw guitar solos (check Suffocation ) and double bass drums that actually roll, he gets all the wicked support he needs. Slowly We Rot Obituary.

Slowly We Rot is the only Obituary album to feature bassist Daniel Tucker, guitarist Allen West would leave soon after but returned for the third album The End Complete. It was re-released on January 27, 1997, with remastered sound and liner notes. Discover more music, concerts, videos, and pictures with the largest catalogue online at Last. Slowly We Rot is the debut album by American death metal band Obituary. It was released on May 16, 1989, and is the only album on which Obituary used E standard guitar tuning, as opposed to the D standard tuning used on all their other albums. Despite this, it is widely considered to be Obituary's heaviest album.
