Via Tania, started her career fronting a noise outfit in her native Australia. But her music took a radical change upon hitting Chicago, where she began working with Howe Gelb, Casey Rice, Tortoise, and Tim Kinsella. For her 2015 album, she recorded in Chicago and Sydney with a collection of musicians known as the Tomorrow Music Orchestra. Music critics have sussed out a likeness to Joanna Newsom’s work with Van Dyke Parks, with vocal phrasing redolent of Björk.
