This album was way ahead of its time !!Could have been released on Kompakt.

Highly underrated LP. Fantastic production, and very melodic techno work together to create an LP of substantial sonics.

Jetone might be Tim Hecker's more dancefloor-oriented moniker, but with ULTRAMARIN, he still shows he's the same ol' Tim Hecker we know and love. Sure, a 4/4 beat thumps through "Aerial Red," but it's the other refracted sounds that catch our attention more. "Mtl Bass" is quicker and more straightforward, while "Octan" has more of the abstraction Hecker built his name upon, and "Stactic" and "Fkstrtowr" are all ambience. "Phoedra IV" returns to the beat, and "Thousand Oaks" is as close to a traditional dub techno track as you'll get (which is to say: pretty awesome). "Untitled" has offers up some dub effect, while "Phoedra II," on the other hand, is almost pure rhythm. But it's "Dakkar" the really pounds home, with a little ethnic percussion to add flavor. Another strong offering from Mr. Hecker.
