Bridget Jones's Diary: Music from the Motion Picture is the official soundtrack to the 2001 British romantic comedy film, directed by Sharon Maguire. The film's soundtrack was composed by Patrick Doyle. It also features two hit songs that were released as singles, "Out of Reach" by Gabrielle and "It's Raining Men" by Geri Halliwell. The single became Halliwell's fourth consecutive number-one hit single in UK Singles Chart and it became her most successful solo single to date.

It was so important that the music I composed and recorded had to be sung by Taron, John said in a statement. I left Taron in the hands of Giles Martin, who I trusted implicitly because he’s brilliant. I didn’t want to be in Taron’s shadows, watching over the process, I trusted them to do what they needed to do, artistically, and listening back I’ve been astonished with the results. Footage already shown to journalists shows Bell, who plays lyricist Bernie Taupin, singing a distinct lead vocal part on Yellow Brick Road as he walks down the street after walking out on an argument with John, a teasing indicator of what other stylistic surprises the film might have in store.

Rather, we let the music take us on a journey, and while no journey is perfect, any of these recordings are outstanding. But if you want to start with one, as most of us will, just listen to sections of each of the different recordings, chose the one that most bring you to tears of joy, and you'll have made an excellent choice. melody of you
If you like the Bladerunner Soundtrack, I think you might find this equally enjoyable. It's mostly a cruis-ey drift through some superb ambience that really deserves a close listen. Good for late nights. The first few tracks being more uptempo (which I personally like but understand others may think naff - like The Brand New Heavies & Morcheeba) slide quickly away into a feeling most of the time somewhere between a snowdrift, a navel-gazing, introspective trance, and a lovely, shallow hypnosis. Mesmerizing soundtrack. Reminds me of the gentility of Bladerunner, but without as intense atmospherics. More accessible whether concentrating hard, or putting it on as beautiful background sound. Very "lost-in-my-own-self-indulgence" music that pleases immensely. So does anyone know if the movie is any good and is it only worth seeing on the giant screen of an Imax?
