Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness is the self-titled debut album released by American indie pop act Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, led by singer, songwriter, and pianist Andrew McMahon. The album was released on October 14, 2014, through Vanguard Records, led by the first single "Cecilia and the Satellite", officially released August 12, 2014. The third Jack's Mannequin record People and Things was released in October 2011 through Warner Bros. imprint Sire Records.

On the stage, my Oxblood friend Was singing songs about the end The bankers in the lion's den Were dropping lines like beggars in the snow. So, let's hang an anchor from the sun There’s a million city lights but. You're number one You're the reason I’m still Up at dawn Just to see your face We'll be going strong With the vampires, baby We belong, we belong awake. Andrew: Fire Escape was born of a weeks worth of late nights in New York City. I’d been traveling in support of the first Wilderness album for nearly 2 years when I found myself with a rare weekend off in a town that’s been known to get the best of me. The acrobat, the banker, the oxblood friend; these larger than life characters are the real life squad that lead me through the boroughs, bodegas, bars and subway stations found in the lyrics of this song.

On September 2, 2014, McMahon released another track from the album called "High Dive", followed by "Canyon Moon" Track listing. All tracks written by Andrew McMahon.

This song perfectly embodies the album and leaves it with a great feeling. It speaks of times to come and a bright future, and I couldn’t imagine a better written conclusion to such a wonderful record. This is the perfect record to kick off Andrew’s solo career. It blends a new sounds with the nostalgia of old so well it’s crazy.

Exclusive Premiere: Hear Andrew McMahon In the Wilderness' Heartwarming New Album. 10/6/2014 by Chris Payne. There were a lot of signs in the making of the last Jack’s record that told me it was time to move on," McMahon tells Billboard. On both of the albums after 2005’s Everything In Transit (2008’s The Glass Passenger and 2011’s People and Things), I was very caught up in my illness and recovery, he says, referencing his triumph over cancer in his early twenties. It made the two things hard to unwind from one another. To write Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, he quite literally set off for the wilderness - a cabin in Los Angeles’ Topanga Canyon. McMahon would write during the week and.

The eponymous debut album from the Jack’s Mannequin and Something Corporate mastermind under the Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness moniker, McMahon taps into his more commercial sensibilities and pulls out a ten-track set of Fu., Killers-, and Passion Pit-inspired pop confections that are as effortlessly breezy and melodic as they are steeped in carefully constructed melodrama
