Rock & Roll Is Dead by The Hellacopters is the successor to By The Graze Of God (2002). Despite the contradiction within the title, the Swedes have once again, after more than ten years in the game, prove that Rock (and rol. music still can be recorded in a fresh and airy way. That goes for the sound, which is one of the album’s strongest aspects. When it comes to the compositions and arrangements Rock & Roll Is Dead does not convey a whole lot of inventiveness. The album hardly contains a single bridge one hasn’t heard The Hellacopters do in the past
Rock & Roll Is Dead~ The Hellacopters is a straight forward rock album that could have been seen as boring and uinspired, but it is not. It is quite refreshing to hear just plain rock music without pretentious lyrics or the band trying to make a social or political statement like U2 and REM. The cover is also a standard rock cover. The book-let is a bit sparse with no lyrics which is a downer. But the photos are great and looks allot like old book-lets from the 1970's. This is an album that I highly reccomend
Rock & Roll Is Dead is less of an album that showcases The Hellacopters technicality as musicians; By the Grace of God has already accomplished that quite handily. No, this new album proves that The Hellacopters are good songwriters. Actually, they’re damn good songwriters. The laidback feel of the album, combined with spectacular wordplay make Rock & Roll Is Dead an amusing treat for a modern hard rock aficionado; particularly one who’s looking for something a little different
