Fly from Here is the twentieth studio album by the English rock band Yes, released on 22 June 2011 by Frontiers Records. After a four-year hiatus, Yes resumed touring in 2009 with a line-up of bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Steve Howe, drummer Alan White, and newcomers singer Benoît David and keyboardist Oliver Wakeman. During breaks in touring between late 2010 and early 2011, the group began to prepare material for Fly from Here, their first studio album in ten years
The return of Geoff Downes, at a time when fandom was not that unhappy with Oliver was a bit of a shock at the time. Given Downes was Fly From Here‘s co-writer and the creator of the original synth sounds, it made sense that he returned – as it turned out he stayed and has been a key member of the band since then. A great return for the Drama line up in Yes's 50th anniversary year on this sonic dream of an album. Songwriting 8. Musicianship 9.
Finishing off the album was a labor of love. Fly From Here - Return Trip" also contains a previously unreleased song, "Don't Take No For An Answer" recorded in 2011, with Steve Howe on lead vocals. Additionally, the full-length version of "Hour Of Need" is included. This has previously only been included as a Japanese bonus track. Geoff Downes adds: "It's quite.
A Return Trip is not going to prompt a complete reevaluation of your personal Yes albums rankings. Nonetheless, for the completist, the obsessive Yes fan, the bootleg fanatic who’s thrilled by that slightly altered arrangement on the second night of the tour, or the just plain curious, this Return Trip will be a very pleasant experience indeed. The major changes are all in the press release: Horn’s lead vocals, the full version of Hour of Need, the inclusion of the previously unreleased Don’t Take No For An Answer. But that’s missing the point of Fly From Here-Return Trip. The album is like an intricate but circumscribed restoration near the corner of the rich tapestry that is Yes Music-it won’t change your assessment of that small section of the fabric nor of the larger piece, but if you let your eyes rest for a moment you’ll notice the colour is a bit deeper, the texture more elegant.
Return Trip’ is a 2018 remix and remaster of Fly from Here with new vocals from Trevor Horn throughout, Fly from Here was YES’ twentieth studio album. Their first studio album since Magnification (2001). The ‘Fly From Here lineup’ of David, Downes, bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Steve Howe and drummer Alan White was produced by Trevor Horn, who was the singer on Drama, and who had previously produced 90125 (1983) and a few tracks on Big Generator (1987)
